National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the youngest and largest museum in Central Asia. The museum was created in the framework of the State programme "Cultural heritage" on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev. The museum is located on the main square of the country – Independence square, harmoniously blending into a single architectural ensemble with the "Kazakh Eli" monument, Palace of Independence, Palace of peace and reconciliation, mosque "Hazret Sultan" and the National University of the arts. Many of the values identified in the framework of the state programme "Cultural heritage", constitute the invaluable Fund of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The largest unique museum complex has an area of 74 000 sq. m. and consists of seven blocks with variable number of floors up to the ninth floor. National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan has the following halls: Hall of Astana, Hall of Independent Kazakhstan, Hall of gold, Hall of ancient and medieval history, history Hall, Ethnography Hall, Halls of modern art. The structure of the museum for the study of the national heritage represented by the research Institute.
